Chairman : Dr. Kenichi Komatsu

Japan Medical Imaging and Radiological Systems Industries Association (JIRA) consists of member companies that develop, manufacture, and sell diagnostic imaging equipment (such as X-ray, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, and image-processing systems), radiotherapy systems, and related products. JIRA was inaugurated in 1967 as Japan Industries Association of Radiation Apparatus. Since then, we have developed with a focus on the progress of radiology. We standardize JIRA member products and submit timely proposals to the government. We have grown into an industrial association with 190 member companies (as of April 2018). In addition to our permanent organizational units, we have four divisions and many committees tasked with solving various problems that are common to the medical imaging systems industry.

Medical needs around the world are continually changing. As a result, the market for medical devices is becoming globalized and diversified. Under these circumstances, companies large and small must consider the entire world as a platform for their business activities. Our policy for the future is based on "JIRA Medical Imaging Systems Industry Vision 2020", which sets directions for the industry toward 2020. We recognize our position in the world and will strengthen our relationship with various government organizations, research and development organizations, educational institutions, and other industrial associations.

JIRA will represent DITTA (Global Diagnostic Imaging, Healthcare IT & Radiation Therapy Trade Association) as the chair from 2015 to 2016, which was established in order to serve as a global voice of Medical Imaging Industry.
